We hear a lot about the dangers of air pollution these days so it is interesting to note the results of a Chinese study which has taken place with more than 384,000 adults over a fifteen-year period.
The study shows that fitter people are less likely to die early than inactive ones even in areas of high pollution.
Dr. Xiang Quian Lao who led the study said, “Habitual exercise should be promoted as a health strategy for those in relatively polluted areas as it can offset some of the damaging effects of air pollution”.
This reinforces the findings of similar studies in the US, Denmark and Hong Kong.
