Around 16,000 people are diagnosed with skin cancer in Britain each year – the fifth most common type of tumour.
A report published in the journal ‘Cancer’ says thousands of lives could be saved if sunbeds were banned. Currently, there are some 8,000 salons in the UK and only under 18’s are outlawed from using them. Despite the risk, sunbeds remain popular amongst young people yet those using sunbeds from a young age are most likely to develop melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
